This one comes from Halifax - a beautiful city - and one of the longest running farmers markets in North America. This is a neat indoor/outdoor market.
I went to this farmer's market one time when I was in Halifax and it's FABULOUS! The beauty of the old Alexander Keith Brewery building where it's located didn't really come across in the video. It was wall-to-wall vendors and wall-to-wall people. So much fun! Thanks for posting this video -- it gave me a wonderful trip down memory lane!
Wow...that's great. I wish we had more of these around...how fabulous! I can't believe they have THAT MANY people go through there. That's some Farmer's Market! Thanks for sharing! :o)
i love the farmer's market in halifax. i think canadian farmer's markets are much better than the ones we have in the states. no matter where i travel in canada i always head straight to the nearest farmer's market. here is the chex mix recipe, i make a lot so i will give you average portions. this is NOT low fat!
for the dry ingredients:
1 box wheat chex
1 box rice chex
1 pound cashews
1 large bag pretzel sticks
1 large bag potato sticks
1 bag fritos
1 bag bugles
1 bag bagle chips
for the coating:
1 pound butter melted
6 tablespoons bacon grease ( i know, i know )
2 tablespoons worchestershire sauce
3 tablespoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons onion powder
3 tablespoons celery salt
4 tablespoons dried parsley
hot sauce ( brand and amount to taste )
mix all of this together with the melted butter and bacon grease.
you can add any other seasonings which you like. i put all the dry ingredients in a large bag and then pour the seasoning mix over it and roll the bag from side to side until everything is coated. you have to be gentle so you don't end up with crumbs. then i spread it all out on cookie sheets and bake it at 250 degrees until golden and crisp. you can gently fold it over during cooking for even browning.
