The Spiral

I've been thinking about how my life journey seems to be less a "crooked path" or a "path less taken" and more of a spiral path. At times I feel like I've gotten so far ahead, and grown so much, only to come back into contact with feelings or situations that I have experienced before. If I'm lucky (or wise) I'll have learned from my previous experiences, and can sail through these new situations. But if I'm holding onto baggage or unhealthy feelings or emotions, I find that I have to learn these lessons all over again.

"The spiral represents the flow of physical & spiritual energy. It symbolizes both solar & lunar, male & female energies. Long before the discovery of spiral galaxies, the ancients have used the spiral image to represent the universe, the earth's rotation, the moon's orbit, and as a symbol for growth."

I love this symbol so much, that my sister in law and I have named our business "Spiral Spirit Offerings." Although the store front didn't pan out, we are currently building our online store, and are joyfully ordering product from suppliers.

This is such a great "next step" for me right now and I'm very thankful and happy about how this is working out. So blissful I am, that I forget that the world keeps on turning, and the path wraps back around, and low and behold....here I am facing an old issue.

Instead of thinking "crap - this again?!" and hiding, I'm going to try and meet this head on. I really don't want to come back around in two years or five years or.... and be facing the same situation. Habits are a hard thing to break, whether they are something you are doing, or something that you've allowed to happen to you.

At any rate, I am feeling much more "capable" these days, and I have faith (blissfully naive or not) that everything will work out just fine.

I also wanted to beg pardon, as I'm fussing with my blog background and header again (you are all so patient with my limited attention span!) I think I rather like the swirls in this one...reminds me of spirals!

I love the new look, Rue. My life was a spiral for many years. Take relationships, for example. I'd get involved in a very dysfunctional one, break up, and find myself involved in another one. Life is a series of lessons, never easy, but well worth it.

~i ADORE what you have done...the images flow about and yes makes you think of the flowing spirals ever changing...i wish you strength as you are willing and wanting to accept and change situations that arise...facing situations especially when we weren't anticipating them can be so challenging but yet when you can sail through it from a lesson past it is quite rewarding to the soul...live love and learn...aren't we all!?! your store name is perfect for you...speaks loud and clear of what you are wanting to give and receive back from it...may it be a prosperous journey for you...always enjoy your words! brightest blessings~

The universe moves in cycles. Everytime we got through, we have a little bit more experience. Spirals indeed! My life is a spiral, and I love it!

The images are beautiful, too. How very appropriate.

Good luck on the business - the name says it all!

I have found that until I can overcome the limitations I set for myself, I keep encountering the same problems. Habits are a hard thing to overcome. But we must set our mind, our very essence, to consciously overcome these limitations if we are to grow. Good luck to you! :0)

I love the new look... I want to do something to mine yet I know what a hassle it can be and have just been avoiding it.. .kudos to you for doing it.... you always seem like such a resourceful soul... I am sure that whatever you put your mind to you will do well. Yes, we do learn from our experiences only to repeat them again later sometimes and have to learn again... Yet I always believe there is a purpose... in some way... possibly not necessarily for ourselves yet maybe for someone who is near to us and observing.... There are many lessons in life and definintely they are not all our own... we also have a part in others.... good luck to you

I wish you the best of luck Rue. I know you've been really looking forward to this, and while it may be different than you have expected, I believe in you and know that you will succeed in whatever you give your heart to! Give us linkage when you have it at the ready, I'd love to see and even feature your new endeavor on my blogs. =)

yes! I also have confidence everything turns out as it should. If you keep on following the spiral, it'll get you to where you were before, but just a bit off-center, and with a different perspective. :)

Oh Rue good on you. It's great to know you have the confidence to face the issues head on bit by bit. You will see that they will just dissolve away afterwards and you will have so much 'space' left to move along the spiral. Great name for a shop too! Fabuleux ;-)

Yes, I find myself drawn towards spirals to work out problems. Right now I'm working with the triple spiral as seen at New Grange through Anam Cara Connections.

Wow, what a great post. I happen to have a tattoo on my right shoulder blade that is a koru from the New Zealand Maori culture. It means regrowth or new beginnings and represents calmness, spirituality, and tranquility. I chose it some 6 years ago never really foreseeing HOW important it would be to me. But I knew then, it meant something and I had to bring it home with me. I love it.

I love your analyzation about the spiral path we all tend to experience! Me, a spiral path with a rollercoaster ride!

I love your background! I,too forever change my backgrounds..it is creative fun!

What a great post. I really like how you are putting it in perspective. The moving and flowing. You will move forward and progress! I can relate to the bumpy ride thing right now all too well.

The business name is perfect. I love when people don't just randomly choose something; it should have meaning if you're going to be pouring part of yourself into it. And I really like this blog layout - the spirals are soothing (if that makes sense to anyone but me :) I probably shouldn't leave comments late at night! G'nite my friend.

I'm really happy for you, Jen.

Awesome, awesome post. Pertinent information about spirals and good sharing about your intentions of dealing with the life and spiritual spirals. Perhaps they are one and the same. Very helpful!
