I Need A Vacation!

I know - I just came back from one! But really - if you've been to Vegas, you will know it's not exactly...relaxing. Still, I had a wonderful time (thanks for all the well-wishes!)

I didn't come back rich, but I sure made the most of the days I had there. We walked miles and miles, and saw as much as we could. We stayed at the Monte Carlo hotel, which was lovely. The above pic is one of the statues they had outside the hotel.

We spent some time on Freemont Street - the street that is now covered by a canopy of lights that is like a huge tv screen of sorts. That street was pretty wild. I think the adventurous crowd hangs out down there - we saw some pretty drunk people! Plus, a bride or two.

Below is a shot of one of my favourite hotels - Caesar's Palace. This place was really opulent and I loved all the statuary. I wish we had spent more time here. This is a photo of winged lions guarding their incredible pools.

We walked the strip in the evenings too, and saw the Bellagio fountain, the volcano at the Mirage, and the pirate show at Treasure Island.

All in all, it was a great trip. I still needed two days to recover, but luckily I got home on the weekend, and was able to relax a bit before I had to head back to work.

I do recommend Vegas for those who love lights and non-stop activity, but you should also know that there isn't one quiet spot in the whole city, unless you are in your hotel room. It's nice to be home without the sounds of sirens, music, horns, slot machines and much more!

Now to catch up on all your blogs to see what you've been up to while I was gone...

Such a beautiful city, but not a place for relaxation. What you need now is a nice serene lake out in the countryside. Welcome back, my friend.

I'm soooo glad you're back. I was going through Rue and Hyssop withdrawal, checking the site everyday to see when you were back. Happy you had a good time, my favorite place is the Venetian.

So glad that you are home Rue! Missed you. Didn't you go to Mexico before Vegas? And now you want another vacation? The pictures are terrific! I was a child when I was there and I loved it, Circus Circus. Loved the lights too. Glad you had a grand time!

Oh how fun, Jen! Vegas...gotta love the excitement but I agree, not always relaxing. You always end up walking miles and miles and miles. Lol! Love your pictures. I need to get caught up with your blog. :) My next post will feature the book you sent me. I am pulling out my crystals tonight and cleansing them in salt water. They have been stored (not so neatly) since I moved and I think they're calling to me so your book is going to come in handy the next week or so. :)

I am glad you're doing well!!

Hi sweet dear, thank you for sharing your delightful vacation snaps with us. I've always longed to go to Vegas (chiefly for the history and modern day sense of over-the-top opulence that's hard to find anywhere else), but haven't made it there yet. I love living my vacation dreams vicariously through shots like this :)

Wishing you a serene and blissful Thursday!
♥ Jessica
