Tuesday Ponderings

***I'm considering starting a once-a-month women's group. I'm feeling the need to gather with like-minded individuals for some discussion, meditation or whatever activities come up. I'm not thinking "coven" for several reasons, most of which involve not being entirely out of the broom closet, and not being able to find many Pagans in my area. But I wouldn't be adverse to doing some moon or elemental work, as those are good cross-over areas of practice and wouldn't offend most people regardless of their spirituality. It's a bit of an undertaking though, so I see this as an Autumn project, with research to begin soon...

***My friend has four kittens up for grabs. The same friend who rescued Dexter and Daisy two years ago and I brought home 5-week old kids to raise (and feed every four hours by bottle!) This time the kittens are with-Mom and healthy and will be ready in July. And there is an orange one. May the gods keep me strong. I cannot have another cat. I just have to stay away from her house for two months...

***A really fun podcast I ran across recently, Witches BrewHaHa (hosted by the awesome Velma Nightshade) has a segment called "Practical Magic" where she takes all these wonderfully innocuous items and figures out myriad ways to use them in her magical work. I love this idea and have been out collecting random items that strike my fancy and am now brainstorming ways to use them in a magical way.

Just a few rambly thoughts for today. Hope your week is fabulous so far!

Sounds like a wonderful idea! Two months is a long time to stay away from your friends house, wish you well with that one. LOL On my way to check out the podcast. Wishing you an awesome day!

I like the idea of a group. I've become quite the loner in my 'old age' but if I had a group such as you describe near my home, I would welcome it.

I wish I lived closer to you. I really could use some female companionship that I can talk with about my beliefs.

that Practical Magic exercise sounds great. I'm in a small coven, meeting irregularly due to modern witch life :D But I found the need to meet with women outside of magical workings- some mundane meeting is good for the soul, too!

I started my own group about 5 years ago. We call it SASS (Saturday Afternoon Spiritual Seekers). We meet once a month and take turns hosting the get together. We each pick up topic and kind of give a little lesson, handouts, class about it. We have learned the history of taro card, made our own ruins, made medicine bags, read tea leafs and palmistry, learned to do Native American smudging, meditations to find our spirit guide, belly danced, rented a cabin for a weekend, walked a labyrinth, cast spells... and now we are learning Reiki. It is a blast, and it is wonderful to have a support group. Good luck!!!

L.M.M. - love that name "Saturday Afternoon Spiritual Seekers!" What a great group you have!

Wild Magnolia - I do actually do work with four ladies that don't live near me - it's our little e-coven, I guess you'd say. We correspond time zones and dates and do ritual at the same time (when we have our sh*t together!) Its great because I really do 'feel' their presence even though I'm in my circle alone.

One of them is in Florida too! Check out "The Sacred Tree" on FB - one of the ladies just put up a Facebook page. We are having a circle for tomorrow night's new moon. (I would be the "Jen" on that page.)

It seems kind of strange to some to 'work with' people who aren't physically in a room with you - but a closeted witch has to do what she can!

What a wonderful idea! Wish I could just hop on over and join you. I used to have a group I gathered with, but unfortunately members moved away and others just got busy, so we do not meet anymore. I miss it.

I wish I could join your group and adopt that little orange kitten. I'm such a sucker for orange kitties and new friends. ;)

That practical magic podcast segment sounds interesting, I'll have to give it a listen!

Wish I lived by you!!! I'd love to get togeather with others like you wanted, and a kitty would be great too.... though "Merlin the bossy" would probably argue with me about that!!!
