The Season Begins - And A New Project!

Guess what starts tomorrow?

Tomorrow is the season opener of our local farmers market!   I'm ridiculously excited.  The weather promises to be awful just to spite me, but I won't let that deter me from my great re-launch of the third season of "Farmers Market Saturday" posts.

For those who are new to the blog, each Saturday (or Sunday - let's be honest) I bring you a post featuring a farmers market, pictures of my local market or recipes that I've made with the produce I've purchased at the market.  There are so many amazing markets all over the world - it's always fun to see what everyone else has going on in their area!

In other news, after giving away countless bottles of herbal all-purpose cleaner and organic herbal mists to my family and friends who seem to hover everytime I make a batch, I've decided to start selling some of these yummy items.  I've started a blog to chronicle the project, which will soon feature a link to my Etsy store once I get myself organized.  If you are so inclined, you can check out Three Cats And a Broom.

See you after the market!

You aren't the only one that gets excited over a farmer's market lol so do I! I love them and there is nothing quite like a fresh seasonal market. I wish you great luck with your new project also. :)

When I was a child, our town had the largest open air market in the country (or so they bragged), Several large pavillions with multiple rows underneath the roof, surrounded by hundreds of tall, docks for wholesale. This part of Michigan is known as the fruitbelt. I LOVED going there with my parents when I was a child. .there was always a breeze off of the lake, and it mingled with all of the fragrances of the multitudes of fruits, veggies, flowers and plants. It was open every day, and always busy!

But times changed, people's food buying habits changed, and the market dwindled, then disappeared. Withing the past few years, a Saturday Farmer's market has sprung up, starting out very small, but has grown just in the past year. And while it doesn't have the magnitude of the original, I still get that euphoric rush when approaching the stands, in anticipation of the treats that I'll find.

I'm also looking forward to see what you have to share with us! Perhaps you'll find some sources that will aid you in your new business adventure, too! It is very exciting news!! Does your local market allow products like you make? Perhaps once you get into production mode, you can have your own booth at your market!

Suzie - your story is so interesting! A market like that - you'd think it would have thrived. I'm really glad to hear that you have one coming back, but I would have loved to see the original one - sounds amazing!

The only issue I have with taking my products to the market is that it gets very hot here in the Summer. The producs include essential oils & organic castile soap (in the case of the cleaner) and oils don't do well in the heat or direct sunlight.

I do have a local gift store that is interested in carrying some of the product though - yay!
