This Week In the Garden

These are just some pictures of flowers and plants that caught my eye this week.  Only the first picture (Larkspur) above is from my own garden.  The rest are snaps from my wanderings.

Globeflowers:

Ohm.

I haven't grown roses for years.  I get discouraged with the aphids and dust that they are prone to getting.  I simply enjoy them elsewhere.

Lambs ears.  These distracted me for quite some time.  I got a few strange looks from some people walking by as I was standing in a park stroking these plants!

I hope your Summer thus far has been lovely.  May it bloom abundantly!

Love the roses! My lambs ears are a favorite of the bees, I was trying to trim a bush next to them and kept getting dive bombed by bees who wanted me to move!

I love both roses & lambs' ears...plant some lambies! They will take over, but if you have a difficult spot in your garden, that can be a blessing.

LOL I talk to animals, I talk to plants. I caress their leaves (the plants that is, animals don't have leaves, to my knowledge! lol)

Have you ever read The Secret Life of Plants by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird? It is an oldie. .came out in 1973, but you can still find it on-line, and sometimes in bookstores. I read it when it first came out, and still have my copy. It will add a whole new dimension to your love of plants!

Thanks for sharing your gorgeous photos with us! They can't help but life your spirit and make you smile!

I like lambs ears too. It's impossible not to stroke them. Sort of like pussy willows that way.

I had an idea at one point to make a touch garden with lambs ears and silver mound and other super soft plants and flowers. :) Still might one day.

Such beautiful images. I had Lambs Ear for years and never tired of stroking it. I would include it in my vases of cut flowers just so I could walk by and touch it while inside. ;-)

Suzie - I've never read that book! It's going on my list of books to get!

HC - I read somewhere that there were about 300 different flowers with the name "Larkspur" - how's that for confusing?

Lol - I'm glad I'm not the only flower-stroker in the bunch!
