Plants in Pictures

Today was my annual excursion to the garden center with my Mom.  Her Mother's Day gift from me each year is this short road trip and as many plants as she can stuff on the little cart that the garden center provides.

Not surprisingly, my favourite greenhouse is the one with all the herbs.

My mother has a real love for marigolds.  I don't understand it at all.

Multi-coloured lettuce excites me.

Every witch needs some dark red geraniums outside the front door.

It's hard to see, but this lilac is dark purple with a light pink outer edge.  Gorgeous!

The names of plants always intrigue me.

Two things I generally fail at growing.  Roses and corn.  Roses, I don't miss.  But I do love the look of rows of cornstalks.  *sigh*

I hope the weather is conducive to planting wherever you are.  Do you have a favourite plant, or something that grows especially well for you?

Happy planting!

Of all the kitchen herbs, basil seems to invade every spare inch of garden I have. I might have 8 different cultivars growing at any particular time, often well out of season. I can get most things to grow with careful attention to conditions, but basil volunteers heartily whenever I turn my eye away.

This year I have planted an herb garden in my window, and I'm so pleased that it is growing. Forgot what I planted, but that's okay. When they grow, I'll know what they are.

I love a trip to a greenhouse or garden center! You are a most wonderful daughter to take your Mom on such a wonderful outing!
My favorite sections would be the herbs and the perennials. Can't resist either - no matter how full my beds are! :0)
Happy Planting!

I cannot pick a favorite- I love far too many plants. Roses, delphiniums, hostas, ferns, sweet alyssum, heucheras, anemones, herbs, sweet peas... I am obsessed. And if I like a plant, I must have every variety available. What grows best for me? Weeds, of course. In the desirable category, violas, lamb's ears, and this year, creeping thyme and valerian!
