Seeing Double or Triple...or....

This photo is supposed to be the same moon as the picture on my post titled: "Good Energy Afoot." It was taken the same evening - just several hours later. The problem was not the copious amount of hot wings and Schmirnoff Ice I had imbibed. Really. The problem was my new camera, which has plenty of lovely settings for taking night photos, and none that actually work.

I tried all the settings. "Night Landscape." "Night Portrait." "Fireworks." Nothing worked. I may need a lesson on night photography.

Still - the photos turned out kind of surreal and mysterious. It wasn't a total loss. Just not enough of a success to try to get pics of the full moon the last two nights. Hope you were all able to get a good look, because I can't help you here - sorry!

  1. I thought it was a picture of rose petals falling through the air. Nice!

  2. I like it. It's different. And ya know what? If you tried to do it again, you wouldn't be able to.

  3. Rue I know it isn't what you were going for, but it is really cool. Like Mary said, if you tried to do it again, you wouldn't be able to do it. Just enjoy it, it is beautiful! Wishing you a warm wonderful week!

  4. Fabulous shot Rue. Pity it's not what the doctor ordered. Just to let you know that, although I have had no Schmirnoff Ice (it is 7.30am here) I am definitely seeing lots of moons. Would love your wonky camera to make some great artwork. So even if I DID know about cameras, think this is sooooo cool that I probably wouldn't tell you the ins and outs anyway so I would be sure to see your progress with groovy arty stuff ;-)

  8. personally I think it was what you were consuming... just kidding... I still work with my camera on night shots.. patience... and a tripod helps alot... little light so any little shake is seen... like I said it was what you were consuming.. :-) love it though

  10. Beautiful photo. I am still perfecting my moon shots also. A tripod is helping out alot but the darn clouded nights keep hiding her.

  12. I love the affect. Sometimes the greatest creations are from simple accidents.

For night photography you really need a tripod and remote clicker. Any movement can make the photo blurry. Also keep in mind that your appeture needs to be w..i..d..e open and your Fstop ssslllooowww to allow as much light in as possible :)

  13. great pic but for what you want you need a tripod of something sturdy to prop your elbows on!

  24. Rue, this is fantastic! I like the picture the way it is. I love it when you get a photograph like this, I never delete dodgy photographs, you never know what you may find! By the way Smiroff ice is my poision (then gin plays a part and I cant remember), come over to mine with some anytime, we will have a giggle!

  25. I actually think that shot is GORGEOUS!
It looks like white rose petals...or maybe feathers...but it's stunning.

If it's any consolation, I am terrible with cameras too, particularly at night. :)
