This Week In The Garden

“It is the month of June,
The month of leaves and roses,
When pleasant sights salute the eyes,
And pleasant scents the noses.”
~ Nathaniel Parker Willis

Dexter spots a bug.

Peas are flowering.

A photo for Jaz at Octoberfarm who also has yellow Irises appearing where she did not plant them.  Once these were a gorgeous Autumn colour of brown.  After years of blooming, they are a faded yellow.

Yes.  I walk the cats.  I know it's weird.

My favourite pansies.

We were visited by a queen bee.  This photo is misleading.  She was about 2 inches long.

The lettuce is getting out of hand.  The heads are now the size of soccer balls.

Happily blooming chives.

Gorgeous! I love that you walk your cats, the hubs keeps wanting to walk ours but I'm pretty sure they'd just do that thing cats do when they hate having something on them and flatten themselves out on the ground and not move. :P

We used to walk our stud cat & he enjoyed it when young. Then he changed & stopped walking & would flop down - shame as it got hi out of his run.

Your garden looks beautiful - I've planted iris this year so real interested how they seem to change colour.

Beautiful photos. My cat loved frolicking around in the garden, but after someone tried to poison her, I had to put a stop to her going out. Forget about walking her. Tried that, but she is too old to learn now.

I've totally thought about walking my cat! We had a little harness for him when he was little which made picking him up so easy.

Your garden is looking lovely!

I love the pics. of your babies esp. Dexter being a black kitty lover as well. If I tried to walk my girls, I can't even imagine...Pansies are one of my fave. flowers too and they were supposedly the flower that Oberon had Puck use to enchant Titania in "A Midsummer Nights Dream."

I tried to walk a previous cat and she would flop over on her back the minute the leash was on and not move until it was off again. Your yard is beautiful. :)

Your garden looks amazing considering the wet, cold spring....and your cats look well loved...the best kind...

Thanks for the laughs - great cat stories! It did take a lot of coaxing, but now they remind me every day that it's time to go out.

Beau (most recent kitty) isn't thrilled & runs from the open door, so I don't push. But there's a cute pink leash waiting if she wants to join the others!

Such gorgeous photos! Your Dexter looks just like my little Herger. So sweet. It is not at all weird that you walk your cats. I would do the same if I lived in town or felt he would run off. You are a wonderful cat momma!

All that gorgeous green! Just lovely!

We tried walking one of our cats in the backyard last weekend. I must say, it did not go well! All that eager sniffing at the open doors & windows does not mean kitty is ready to comprehend the hugeness of the great outdoors!LOL

I didn't put a whole lot of effort into training my girls to walk on a leash, it was more so to make it easier to catch them when they were kittens. I do still put there harnesses on them when I let them outside. I absolutely love watching them chase bugs! lol

I used to walk our kitty, Winston, until he freaked out one day, and managed to wriggle out of his harness. .thankfully, he climbed up me, instead of running away, but those claws didn't feel too swift at the time. Our kitties now are too nervous outside to even try. .and our vet recommended that we don't try it, because there are too many known cases of parasites in our area, for cats to pick up.

But I used to walk my kitties I had as a kid, too, and they all loved it! A lot safer than letting them run loose.

Your flowers are all beautiful!! I don't have a lot of sunny area, so I always envy those who have such gorgeous blooms!

I chuckled when I saw your Dexter. .he looks just like my Magick, and my Kalika. I love all kitties, but those black ones are so special!
